The mammasaver household is still in the throws of showing potential buyers around our flat. With it only being a small flat, it doesn’t take that long.

In fact, a disproportionate amount of fussing seems to be going on when a potential buyer calls around.

No offers have yet been made, and in all honesty, it’s a blessed relief. If we did, we’d have to do things. Hire solicitors, removal firms and of course, find somewhere to live. (Duh).

One rather left-field way of finding a competitive price for home removals is by using uShip’s courier services online.

Type in your details (carefully), and you will receive a number of bids from local firms, willing to offer you a competitive price for your house move.

The key is to add as much detail as you can, to get back the most bids from potential firms.

Adding photos of the furniture and such like that need increases the number of firms offering a competitive bid also.

It seems efficient and a rather cunning way to get local firms to compete for your business.

Frankly, an alternative to a whole load of ringing-round sounds rather appealing, when chasing after a toddler and attempting to keep on top of everything.

As for the viewers to our flat? Keep 'em coming. I can take it.

Dive for cover - what would your family do if  satellite fell on your head?               |  Sponsored Post

A little far fetched, do you think? Perhaps not. Last week, NASA announced that parts of one of its satellites were careering towards earth, putting one of its human inhabitants at a 1 in 3000 risk of being struck by one of the rogue parts.

1 in 3000? Those odds are rather high for my liking. If those are the odds for something so extraordinary happening, what about the more mundane dangers of accidents or illness?

If something rather nasty did happen to you or your partner, what would happen to your family’s finances? Would everyone be able to get by?

The point is, that Endsleigh Insurance believe that a lot of parents are not taking out life insurance because they worry that the monthly cost would be too high.

It’s a fair point - a family on a tight budget might not wish to set aside more money to cover something that seems to them unlikely. However, one in twenty children will lose a parent before they finish full time education.

That’s the thing about the unforeseen, you don’t see it coming. Ahem.

If you do want to read more about life insurance, visit moneysavingexpert.com's guide to the different kinds of policies out there. I found that a non smoking woman in her early 30s (ie me) could find an insurance policy for about £6 a month.

It might just be worthwhile checking out, should the worst happen, or should that pesky satellite come anywhere over the North Sea…
